What is Reiki?
"Reiki (pronounced ‘ray-kee’) is a form of energy healing that originated in Japan in the early 20th century. The word 'Reiki' comes from two Japanese words: 'Rei,' meaning universal, and 'Ki,' meaning life force energy. So, Reiki is essentially the practice of channeling universal life energy to support healing and balance."

The idea behind Reiki is that we all have an energy field, or 'aura,' that surrounds us. When this energy is flowing smoothly, we feel healthy and at peace. But when our energy becomes blocked or unbalanced—due to stress, illness, or emotional challenges—it can lead to physical or mental discomfort. A Reiki practitioner acts as a conduit, using their hands to gently channel healing energy into the recipient’s body. This can be done through light touch or by hovering hands just above the body.

Reiki isn’t just about physical healing—it’s also about emotional and spiritual well-being. Many people turn to Reiki to reduce stress, improve sleep, ease pain, and enhance overall energy levels. Some people even use it to help cope with grief, anxiety, or trauma. While Reiki isn’t a substitute for medical treatment, many find it complements traditional healthcare by helping to restore balance and promote relaxation.
Train in Reiki
Reiki Level 1, also known as Reiki I, is the first degree in the practice of Reiki, a form of energy healing that originated in Japan. Reiki is based on the concept that there is a universal life force energy that flows through all living things, and Reiki practitioners channel this energy to promote healing, relaxation, and balance.
Here’s an overview of what training in Reiki I involves:

1. Understanding Reiki Principles and History
-
History of Reiki: Reiki was developed in the early 20th century by Dr. Mikao Usui. Learning about the founder’s journey and how Reiki came into being helps deepen your connection with the practice.
-
Principles of Reiki: Reiki is based on five principles, known as the Reiki Precepts, which are ethical guidelines for living a peaceful and harmonious life. These include:
-
Just for today, I will not be angry.
-
Just for today, I will not worry.
-
Just for today, I will be grateful.
-
Just for today, I will do my work honestly.
-
Just for today, I will be kind to every living thing.
-

-
2. Energy Healing and the Concept of Ki (Chi)
-
Ki (or Chi) refers to the universal life energy that flows through all living beings. In Reiki, the practitioner learns to channel this energy to heal physical, emotional, and spiritual ailments.
-
You’ll learn how energy flows through the body, how blockages occur, and how to clear them to restore balance.

3. The Attunements
-
One of the core aspects of Reiki I training is receiving attunements from a Reiki master teacher. These attunements are a sacred process where the teacher helps open up your energy channels to allow you to become a conduit for Reiki energy.
-
Attunements typically involve specific rituals, symbols, and mantras to help align your energy with the universal life force.

4. Hand Positions for Self-Healing and Healing Others
-
You will learn how to use your hands to channel Reiki energy. The hand positions are placed on or near the body to facilitate the flow of healing energy.
-
You'll practice self-healing, using the hand positions on your own body to balance your energy.
-
You'll also learn to perform healing sessions for others, focusing on key areas where energy blockages may be present.

5. Meditation and Grounding Techniques
-
Meditation practices are part of Reiki to help you connect with the energy within and around you. Grounding helps you stay balanced while you work with Reiki energy.
-
You may practice clearing your mind and focusing on the flow of energy, learning how to remain centred during your healing practice.

6. Practical Applications
-
Self-Healing: You'll begin by using Reiki for your own physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
-
Healing Others: You will practice giving Reiki to others through touch or by placing hands at a distance. As you work with the energy, you may notice heat, tingling, or other sensations, which are signs that energy is being exchanged.

After Completing Reiki I Training
-
Practice: You’ll be encouraged to practice regularly, both for yourself and for others, to deepen your connection with the energy and refine your skills.
-
Self-Development: Reiki is also a personal development path, so you’ll continue to grow spiritually, emotionally, and energetically as you engage in regular Reiki practice.

Key Benefits of Reiki I Training:
