My Top 3 Essential Oils to Get You Started with Aromatherapy

Simple, Effective, and Oh-So-Lovely

I know it can feel overwhelming with all the info out there, but don’t worry—I’ve narrowed it down to three little bottles of loveliness that will give you so many options without any fuss. These oils are cost-effective, super versatile, and safe for most people (just remember to be cautious with peppermint around little ones!).

  1. Monster spray – Mix lavender with water in a spray bottle for little ones at bedtime. Bye-bye monsters, hello sweet dreams.

  2. Mattress refresh – Combine lavender & peppermint (or lemon!) with water and spritz. Or mix into baking soda and sprinkle before adding fresh sheets.

  3. Towel rescue – A drop or two of lemon in the washer = fresh, clean-smelling towels.

  4. Carpet freshener – Add a few drops to baking soda, sprinkle on carpets, then vacuum.

  5. Car comfort – Lavender calms road rage; peppermint helps ease car sickness.

  6. Natural surface cleaner – Use lemon and lavender in a vinegar or alcohol spray to wipe down sinks, counters, and more.

  7. DIY all-purpose cleaner – Mix all 3 oils with vinegar or alcohol, water, and a splash of dish soap for a homemade, safe surface spray.

  8. Sticky mess solution – Lemon oil on sticky spots works wonders.

  9. Cleaning motivation – Diffuse peppermint for a fresh, focused cleaning mood boost.

  10. Boost your shampoo – Add a few drops of peppermint or lavender for scalp love.

  11. Foot soak heaven – Peppermint and lemon in warm water = instant foot spa.

  12. Soothe aches & pains – Massage diluted peppermint or lavender for muscle relief.

  13. Fix cracked heels – Lavender + coconut oil overnight works like magic.

  14. Sleepytime blend – Diffuse lavender by your bed for deeper rest.

  15. Natural perfume – Blend oils in a rollerball with your fave carrier for a signature scent.

  16. Headache helper – Lavender + peppermint in coconut oil, massaged on temples = bliss.

  17. Pre-workout pep – Diffuse peppermint and lemon to get energised.

  18. Bug bite relief – Lavender directly on bites to soothe itching.

  19. Nausea relief – Inhale peppermint or apply diluted to the stomach.

  20. Inflamed skin support – Lavender is your go-to for eczema and skin irritation.

  21. Sunburn soother – Aloe vera + lavender + peppermint in a spray = calming magic.

  22. Anxiety relief – Diffuse or inhale lavender to calm the nervous system.

  23. Energy boost – Lemon and peppermint diffused together = natural pick-me-up.

  24. Sore throat support – One drop each of lemon and peppermint in a spoon of high-quality Manuka honey. (Only with therapeutic-grade oils like doTERRA!)


🧴 DIY Recipes You’ll Love


🌿 Headache Relief Balm

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp coconut oil (or another carrier)

  • 5 drops peppermint

  • 5 drops lavender

  • Optional: 1 tsp beeswax pellets to make it firmer

Method:Melt beeswax and coconut oil together (if using wax), then stir in the oils. Pour into a small jar or tin. Apply to temples, neck, or shoulders as needed.


💜 Ouchy Spray for Bumps & Bruises (Kid-Friendly!)

Ingredients:

  • 50ml witch hazel or cooled boiled water

  • 5 drops lavender

  • 2 drops frankincense (optional)

  • 3 drops tea tree (optional)

  • Small spray bottle

Method:Add oils to the bottle, top with liquid, and shake well. Spray directly onto little bumps and bruises for soothing support.


Calming Anxiety Spray

Ingredients:

  • 50ml distilled water or witch hazel

  • 8 drops lavender

  • 4 drops frankincense or orange

  • Spray bottle

Method:Combine and shake. Mist over your pillow, around your body, or into the room for calm, grounding energy.


🍋 Energising Morning Diffuser Blend

Ingredients:

  • 3 drops lemon

  • 2 drops peppermint

  • 1 drop wild orange (optional)

Pop into your diffuser to uplift your morning, reset your mind, and power through the day.
